Description

This is a 6" afghan block I created myself. The idea for the design came from a solitaire card game called Crazy Quilt that I downloaded off the internet. Instructions for the afghan block are below.

Materials:

With black, ch 4, slip st in first ch to make 4 ch lp, ch 3, 3 dc in center of lp, * ch 2, 4 dc in center lp, rpt from * 2 more times, ch 2, sl st in top of ch 3, end off.

First bar –
With right side of center piece facing and color A, sc in a corner hole of center piece, sc in the top of next 4 dc (count the ch 3 as a dc), sc in next corner hole, ch 8, turn. Dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in the next 5 ch, dc in the next 6 sc, ch 2, turn. (Ch 2 does not count as a dc this time.) Dc in next 12 dc, ch 2, turn. Dc in next 12 dc, end off. You should be looking at the back side.

Second bar –
With right side facing, rotate work so that the bar with color A is to the left of the center piece. With color B, sc in upper right corner of center piece, sc in next 4 dc, sc in upper left corner, sc in first bar of color A, sc in space between first and second row, sc in bar of second row, sc in space between second and third row, sc in bar of third row, sc in space at top of bar. * Ch 2, turn, dc in next 12 sts. Rpt from * two more times. End off with back side facing.

Third bar –
With right side facing, rotate work so that color A is at the bottom and color B to the left. With color C, work same as second bar.

Bring yarn to front, hook behind yarn, from back to front insert hook through base of dc on the bottom row of color A, pull through color A and first two lps on hook, two lps left. Ya know, I'd like one of those, but instead of the black, it would be white and use only light colors. :3
